The course has been arranged on an annual basis since 1981 and has followed the profound development of the industry. Since 1981 the total attendance has been more than 3000 participants from 280 companies and universities, representing 56 countries.

The course provides an updated, comprehensive review of the state of the art of aluminium production. New Developments are emphasised. The course is aimed at personnel working in the field of commercial aluminium electrolysis at all levels, including technical and project managers, superintendents, supervisors, potroom engineers, suppliers as well as research metallurgists.

The aim of the course is to “Understand the process and act accordingly”. Not only lectures but also Group discussions of actual problems and social arrangements with informal discussions are important parts of the course.
